The NAIFA-New Hampshire Government Relations Committee partners with J. Grimbilas Strategic Solutions, LLC. has been front line advocates to advance NAIFA-New Hampshire's legislative and regulatory priorities for many years. They've provided this week's update on recent committee meetings, bills they are following, and legislative issues they've identified as being of interest to NAIFA.
House Commerce will meet this week (9/24) to debate one of the bills sent to interim study. In a few weeks, House Health and Human Services will do the same. The initial filing period for legislation in the 2025 session has passed. So far, no filings of interest to NAIFA-New Hampshire have been identified of the roughly 170 titles filed. We expect around 1,000 bills to be filed in the next session, which will begin shortly after the November general election.
Early last week, St. Anselm released a poll indicating Kelly Ayotte (R) had a 3-point lead over Joyce Craig (D) in the race for Governor. Thursday, UNH Issued a poll indicating Craig had a 1-point lead over Ayotte. Both polls show the Democratic nominees for Congress with solid leads. Craig, Ayotte neck-and-neck in NH Governor Race; Dems hold advantage in races for Congress. Durham, NH - Joyce Craig and Kelly Ayotte are tied in the race to replace outgoing Governor Chris Sununu in New Hampshire. Democrat Maggie Goodlander leads Republican Lily Tang Williams in New Hampshire's Second Congressional District while incumbent Democrat Chris Pappas leads Republican Russell Prescott in the First Congressional District. Likely voters are generally unfamiliar with and don't understand the proposed constitutional amendment on the ballot in November raising the required judicial retirement age in the state, and very few plan at the moment to vote in favor of it.
