The NAIFA-New Hampshire Government Relations Committee partners with J. Grimbilas Strategic Solutions, LLC. to lobby on the issues important to our industry, our products and services, and our clients. J. Grimbilas Strategic Solutions, LLC. has been front line advocates to advance NAIFA-New Hampshire's legislative and regulatory priorities for many years. They've provided this week's update on recent committee meetings, bills they are following, and legislative issues they've identified as being of interest to NAIFA.

Two quick updates for this week:

1. House Caucus Leadership Elections: Last week, the Senate Republicans selected Sharon Carson to serve as Senate President and Senate Democrats selected Rebecca Perkins Kwoka to serve as Minority Leader.  This week, House Republicans voted for Sherm Packard to serve a Speaker again during the upcoming session.  Yesterday afternoon, House Democrats voted for Alexis Simpson to serve as Minority Leader.  Former Minority Leader Matt Wilhelm decided against leading the caucus again this session.  We have included an article below with more detail.  It does not include the selection of Simpson since the House Democrats caucused after the article was published.  Both the House and Senate will meet on Wednesday, December 4 to formally vote, as a body, for their respective leaders (Senate President and Speaker).

2. New LSRs - House members have until next Friday (11/22) to file bills for the 2025 session.  A number of new titles were released this week.  The overall total is less than 300.  We are expecting around 1000 bills from the House and Senate combined.  We will likely see a lot more next week.  I wanted to highlight LSR 246 -  Relative to The Expectation Of Privacy In The Collection and Use Of Personal Information.  It has been proposed by Rep. Bob Lynn (R-Windham).  Prior to serving in the House, Rep. Lynn was NH Supreme Court Justice.  While it is difficult to determine the details from the title, House efforts to enhance privacy protections have resulted in obstacles for existing business practices in the past.  Further, they have been a challenge to amend, defeat, etc.  We will let you know as we learn more.
